Estimated cost
This is a baseline estimate, not a quote. Every property is different — access, grade and what is already on the ground all affect the final figure. Book a free on-site measure and we will put a firm number in writing.

What Actually Changes the Number

The rate covers the build itself. What moves a Kitchener patio away from the calculator figure is almost always the ground it sits on, and whatever has to happen before a single paver is laid.

Size Sets the Rate Band

Smaller patios cost more per square foot because mobilisation, excavation setup and disposal are much the same whether the area is eighty square feet or eight hundred. Above two hundred square feet the rate settles; past eight hundred we price the job individually.

What Is Already There

Bare ground is the cheapest starting point. Lifting an old concrete slab, a deck or a failed patio adds removal and disposal before the build even begins, and that is quoted separately because the volumes vary enormously.

Access and Ground Conditions

A back garden a machine can reach is a different job from one where every pallet is barrowed through a side gate. Grade, drainage and whatever the test hole turns up all shift the labour, which is exactly why the on-site measure matters.

What the Square Foot Rate Includes

The quoted rate is all-in for the build itself. These three stages are the job, and none of them arrive later as a line item you were not expecting.

1

Excavation

The existing surface is stripped and the area dug out to depth, with spoil removed from site the same day. How deep depends on what the ground needs rather than on a fixed number.

2

Base Preparation

Geotextile down, then compacted granular built up in lifts and carried past the finished edge so the perimeter has something to bear on. This is the stage that decides whether the patio is still level in ten years.

3

Stone and Finishing

Bedding course screeded, pavers laid and cut, edge restraint fixed, polymeric sand swept in and set, then final compaction and a swept site before we leave.

Interlock Patio Cost Questions

Between twenty and twenty-five dollars per square foot installed, depending on the size of the area. Smaller patios sit at the higher end because the setup cost is much the same regardless of how much ground you are covering. A one hundred and fifty square foot patio comes out around three and a half thousand; three hundred square feet lands nearer six. Anything above eight hundred square feet we price individually rather than off a standard rate.

Because a large part of the cost is fixed no matter the area. Getting a crew and a machine to site, setting up, and carting away spoil costs much the same for a small patio as a large one. Spread across more square feet, that fixed portion shrinks. It is why the rate steps down as the area grows, and why very small patios are rarely good value per foot.

Anything that varies too much between properties to price sight-unseen. Removing an old concrete slab or deck, significant grade correction, steps, seating walls and lighting are all quoted separately once we have seen the site. The rate itself covers excavation, base preparation and the stone, which is the bulk of the work on most jobs.
